My Favorite Sight

     Jacqueline du Pre, “I have the same feeling when I walk in a very beautiful place that I have when I play and it goes right”. When ever been through a beautiful and a kindness place can always brighten my heart and make my mind open. But there is only one place that is my favorite, Taipei.

Taipei is the capital city in Taiwan, and it is also the most populated city. Taipei has the most convenient transportation, such as the Metro Railway System, bus, train, Ubike and also airport in such a small area. We can go to anywhere easily and fast. Taipei also has lots of amazing place to go. In Xinyi district, the main business district, has lots of department store, such as Eslite, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, ATT for fun and Bellavita. There is also Taiwan World Trade Center take place, that there are lots of exhibition in Taipei, too. The most important and special culture in Taiwan is the night market. In Taipei, we have night market, too. Such Shihlin night market and Raohe Street night market. We can eat lots of Taiwanese food and have lots of fun there.

Taipei is a place that is basin landform so it is surrounded by mountains. The most important is Yang Ming Mountain National Park that with lots of hot spring. Another famous mountain is Xiang Shan Mountain. This kind of extraordinary landform make Taipei so unique. And my favorite sight of Taipei is the beautiful night scene of Taipei that seen from Xiang Shan Mountain. I feel so amused and happy when I overlook the whole Taipei city every time. Xiang Shan Mountain has a climbing trail that is me and my father’s favorite. Every day after we finish the dinner, we love to take a walk to Xiang Shan, and we will go for a walk to the top of the mountain and enjoy and relax by the beautiful view of Taipei. Because of the amazing view, the tired of the work and the stress of the school will all fly away. This is me and my father’s happy memory and our way to maintain our Parent-child relationship.

When Portuguese been through Taiwan, They called our land Formosa, beautiful place. From the documentary, Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above, by Po- Lin, Chi, we can see how beautiful and unique Taiwan is. Not only Taipei, but also every other places are amazing bot also destroyed by ourselves, too. Living in such a precious island, we have to cherish more, too. There is only one Earth, there is only one Taiwan, let us ue our power to maintain every our favorite sight.

     According to the Han dynasty, "People are the most important to an emperor, while foods are the most important to the people". Eat is the most important thing to people. We can’t live without eating. There is a long history in the food culture. And in every different culture has different eating habit and food culture, so does the modern society.

    In Taiwan, people have their eating habits. We often categorize Taiwan as north, middle, south and east. Each place has it own eating tradition and taste, too. It is really interesting that in such a small island has this special phenomenon. In the north of Taiwan, take Taipei for example, Taipei is a busy city, there are lots of type to choose for eating, such as fast food restaurant, coffee shops or some eateries. To me, the most different food is intestine. Intestine vermicelli is really famous in Taipei, and to other place’s people, they sometimes can’t accept this cuisine because it seldom be added in their daily food life. In the south of Taiwan, take Tainan for example, the food in Tainan is sweeter than other place. Some said in 17 century Dutchman came to Tainan, and think Tainan is a good place to plant sugarcane. Tainan became a big city that exported sugarcane. And it influenced the food taste of Tainan.

     Although there are lots of delicious Taiwanese foods, my favorite is McDonald. When I was little, I had never eaten McDonald or even just a French fries. My schoolmates were always talking about how delicious the food was, and how fun the toys that gave with the meal set. The reason why my parents forbid me to eat McDonald is because they think this kind of fast food isn’t nutrient and safe. After I grow older, I went to McDonald with my friends after the school is over. They were so surprised that I never ate McDonald before. I ordered a lot, Oreo cookies McFlurry, Big Mac, chicken nuggets and French fries. At that moment, I felt so satisfied that I finally ate my dream food and they are so delicious. I love them so much that I really want to eat them everyday, but I know fast food isn’t good for human and especially teenager, even though everything in McDonald is so attractive and fantasy. So I control my desire of eating McDonald so hard, and only eat them when there is a special day or typhoon day.

      In the modern 21 century, as the progress of technology, there are lots of food is made by machine but not the real food, sometimes human beings only remember to taste the food but forget to eat. Eating is the most important things to human life, how to eat well, how to eat healthy, is much more important that the price and the taste. Although there are lots of choices we can choose now, being a smart customer is crucial, too.

My Favorite City in Japan – Kyoto

      Kyoto is the most historical place in Japan. This city contains lots of history and classical style and special culture that it is really different from other city in Japan. I have never been there before, but I am always dreaming about having long vocation to experience the life in Kyoto. I would like to be a backpacker when I go there, and freely and randomly do and travel around. Also, I will choose to live in the youth hotel that I can make lots of foreign friends.

      First, I want to go to 金閣寺 in the northwest side of Kyoto. It is a really special temple covered by gold, and the reflection on the lake is the most stunning reason why I want to go there first. The scenery combines dignity and soft feeling together, and makes me feeling respect but also calm. I think this is a good place to create poetry or depict paint. I would like to sit aside and enjoy this beautiful view and relax.

      Next, I would like to introduce 伏見稻荷神社, this temple is one of the most historical temple. This temple was build on the top of the mountain, and the way to the temple have thousands of vermilion torii gates. The whole road was full of misery but stunning beautiful site. And I would like to wear traditional Japanese clothes when I go there. I think it would be the best place to experience the Japanese culture.

      There are also lots of spots waiting for me to explore. I really like Japanese culture. One day, I will stay in Kyoto and make my road-trip dream come true.

Road Trip

Road Trip

      As a saying goes, go forward to the things you want to do when you are young. To me, Taiwan’s road trip is on my top bucket list. I will start from my hometown, Taipei, and surround Taiwan. Taiwan is a great place for a ride, so I will go on my road trip by bike. Although it could be tough for me, I will try my best to finish this challenge. This road trip may take one month to finish because I want to have a deep travel in Taiwan. Every city I go through I will stay there for couple of days to go to the famous hot spots. To be a Taiwanese, we have to know Taiwan and love Taiwan. I am really anticipated to go on this road trip in my college year.
